Want to become a ProTeacher?
""The art of teaching is the art of assisting discovery." ~Mark Van Dore. When teachers teach, they not only speak, but share an infinite amount of information to guide students of the future. Sharing knowledge is a key component of becoming a teacher, because everyone learns from someone. It is very difficult to learn things independently to become a professional educator. Learning gets easier when a community communicates with each other and shares ideas to shape new ways of thinking.
This can be achieved over the internet through social networks. Social networks are so useful as it provides resources to those who need information. People can collaborate on ideas based on particular subject matters that interest them. Well, my content area is, of course, elementary education. So I found a really awesome website that I can offer what I know and gain information about things that I do not know. My website of choice for evaluation is ProTeacher.net.
ProTeacher.net is a wonderful website to share various ideas, information, and lessons with educators throughout the world. This website is a community of professional educators who are geared towards Pre-K, elementary schools and middle schools. It is a social network that offers a multitude of lesson plans, activities, teaching ideas, discussions, and resources for classroom teachers. Navigation through this website is pretty easy as well! It is an excellent source to guide me towards becoming a 'Pro-Teacher!'
A lot of the interaction between these professional educators takes place within the forums. Forums are basically threads that discuss about certain subjects to explore and delve into deeply. Chatting is also another way of interaction here. Posting up blogs is also another form of interaction where educators can express their thoughts and people can comment about them. It is somewhat similar to forums, except there is a lot more interaction in forums.
In conclusion, ProTeacher.net gives teachers an open opportunity to find newer ways of teaching through collaborating thoughts and ideas. It is a social network that many teachers around the world can contribute resources that will improve the educational system everywhere, especially targetting the primary schools. It is a splendid source for lesson plans, activities, and sharing ideas about teaching.
